Wedding Taiwan Style

The tradition of marriage takes a whole new shape in Taiwan. Traditionally for americans a wedding is a huge expense that the bride and groom incur upon beginning their lives together. It seems to be a party more for the friends and family than actually for the bride and groom. Dont get my wrong i am way into going to peoples weddings and enjoying free food and an open bar.

In Taiwan the wedding is not so much a party as it is a way for the couple to raise money for their new life together. I happened to be invited to a wedding last week.

After paying you sit down for some dinner and watch the bride walk out in three different outfits and say hello to all of her guests.

Then as soon as the dinner is finished you are asked to leave.  Its no bullshit, fast and efficient.  Pay, eat leave.  Overall I had a great time.  It was fun and interesting but the best part was the baby thimble size shot glasses for your whisky.  Some older lady siting next to me continued saying the one english word she knew "cheers" until her husband had to help her away from the table.
